Dr. Salina Waddy is a stroke neurologist who completed her medical doctorate at Columbia University, followed by neurology residency training, a stroke fellowship, and neuro-genetics post-doctoral fellowship at Emory University. She was an Assistant Professor at Emory prior beginning her current position as Program Director in the Office of Minority Health and Research. While at Emory, she developed the infrastructure for multiple genetic projects including rare, Mendelian inheritance diseases and common complex diseases which have included epilepsy, sleep disorder, stroke and cardiovascular disease. Her research has included mutation detection, SNP analysis, and development of the infrastructure for genetic discovery projects. As well, she has developed several clinical and genetic stroke and cardiovascular ethnic disparities projects. Her areas of interest are health disparities, minority health, issues related to stroke and the genetic determinants of stroke, as well as predictive health. |
